I use it all the time and they give me result 8 out of 10 times. Take this very image of the post. Just open the image, copy the url and paste in trace.moe or saucenao.com , both gives result. These sites don't give desired results when 1) image is too much cropped 2) there is large text on image that isn't it's part 3) image is horizontally flipped 4) colour is manipulated (like blue screen added) 5) edited in some other way.
