Within my first year or two of working there, I wrote a ridiculous backup solution in batch that leveraged vshadow and robocopy to allow it to run without interrupting the user. It worked, but was all kinds of jank...and during a beta testing stage (multiple users, etc), my boss shelved the idea so I could work on "more important" tasks.

Arch Linux

While its been a while since we've done so, I'd also recommend looking into CloneZilla. While its a tool for pulling disk images, I've found it quite easy to use and relatively space efficient...plus, its part of the ArchLinux ISO image, which I prefer over CloneZilla's ISO.
