What TrueNAS is for NAS, what's a comparable software for VMS or NVR?

Zoneminder This is the one I use, and it is without any doubt the absolute best. I went through numerous applications on numerous distros and none were effectively better. This is also relatively camera-brand agnostic and it can handle just about as many or as few cameras as you can imagine. How many? I have seen greater than a thousand on a single VMS running this software (I am at 72 for my place). It has a relatively decent mobile app, and you can set it up to text alert you even without it. You can turn on/off motion detection on a per-camera basis, etc.

Camlytics

Camlytics Camlytics is just about the best MS Windows one there is, has a mobile application (no idea how well it works, they simply have one) Only points of contention there might be is you have to use an older version of Windows (10 or less) until they certify it (2.x). Tolerates most cameras.
