MPV

I like the MPV video player. It has a lot of stuff that's useful for watching non-native content. If you put the subtitle files in the same folder as the video files, and have the names the same outside of the file extension (for instance: Dragonball S01E01.mp4 + Dragonball S01E01.ass, and so on), then MPV will make it an available subtitle for the video. There's a number of mass renaming programs for Windows that makes this easier, and tutorials on writing mass rename batch scripts.
