I just want to add onto this to point out that this particular group conversation is a green bubble conversation, meaning it was sent using SMS/MMS. These conversations are not encrypted, So your message contents are visible to your cellular carrier and their partners making them vulnerable to breaches. I personally try to only send blue messages which are end-to-end encrypted, and I use signal (mentioned in the computerphile video) with friends who don’t have iPhones.

All that said, the risk of malware is pretty negligible for either a blue or green bubble. It’s perfectly okay to use green bubble conversations if you are comfortable with the messages being accessible by third parties like your cell carrier or possibly hackers. You shouldn’t send sensitive information such as passwords or credit card info over a green text, but TBH you probably shouldn’t send that stuff over text at all. Bitwarden send is a good option for sending sensitive information via a secure link.
