Expedia or booking.com are both 3rd party vendors.. And as everyone has said, you are better off going directly through the airline website. However if you insist on using a 3rd party vendor.. So its a toss up. However, probably booking.com is a wee bit better as it has shown better financial returns to its shareholders, suggesting that more people use it.

CheapOair is the best means for getting the detailed information regarding cheap flights, hotels, and car rentals.

The difference is in the airline itself - you booked with KLM you said, through cheapoair.com - did you go to the KLM website and see what that same ticket would cost? The United flight on 'cheapoair' or whatever is going to be comparable to what it is on the website (within a few bucks as someone else stated).
