Not sure when you last tried NovelAI, but NovelAI now has a free trial, so you can test out how it currently is without having to pay a subscription to do so. NovelAI also has a new model called Euterpe, which uses a finetuned version of the Fairseq 13B model, so you'll probably have a better time with that than with their GPT-J 6B model. Similarly, HoloAI also recently introduced an un-finetuned Fairseq 13B model for their $12 per month subscription tier. Honestly, Fairseq 13B is pretty much the closest you can realistically get to GPT-3 Davinci Dragon outside of simply using GPT-3 Davinci.

I know Hyperwrite and ShortlyAI use GPT-3; but I'm not sure if they use GPT-3 Davinci, or a weaker GPT-3 model. Neither one seems to specify. Replika uses GPT-3; but it's more of a chatbot than a game or writing tool, and they also don't seem to specify which GPT-3 model they use. PhilosopherAI does use GPT-3 Davinci, but it works nothing like AI Dungeon, and you have to pay per output. Endless Visual Novel uses GPT-3 Davinci, alongside GPT-J 6B for any outputs that trigger OpenAI's filter. It also has AI-generated images and music, and as the name implies, it plays in a visual novel format. It hasn't released yet, but it goes into open alpha in March.
