Good Self-Publishing Company?

SmashWords Freelancer.com
  1. Affordable formatting for inclusion in Premium Catalog for SmashWords and Kindle Direct Publishing.
This question makes me think really hard, lol. You may not get much hand holding from most self-publishing platform companies. They'll have forums and/or Q/A's for you to refer to. I had to do a lot of research, reading other self-published authors journey's and Googling to answer my questions. Most self-publishing is trial and error, if you don't have a mentor/coach who has already taken that path and could walk you through. You could submit your book to an independent publisher which can be quite expensive though, more than likely over your $4K budget. I had gotten accepted by one and found out at the initial meeting my cost was going to be around $13K, but they would take care of everything with a bundled package; I just didn't have that amount in my budget. I had published a calendar with Lulu many years ago before they offered the bundling packages, I believe, but it seemed to me more hands off at the time than hand holding. Some freelancer sites may have offers that could help you, like freelancer.com. Like @HawaiianWallaby mentioned, Blurb.com worked for them; maybe you can try iUniverse.com, xlibris.com or smashwords.com.
