I would start by finding data - cms.gov, data.gov, github, nba.com, fivethirtyeight.com, etc. You might need to make some adjustments in Excel, but for the most part making adjustments in SQL is far easier. I like using google sheets because you can use importhtml (and other functions). Many sites allow you to download to excel and then import into MSSQL.
