Behance

Network works, don't get me wrong, but if it is not in your personality, it can feel a bit weird to do. From my experience, having a solid portfolio was a major factor. I tried Behance but my student subscription ended after I graduated, so I went with Google Sites (link goes to Google's tutorial on how to build a portfolio. I do not recommend adding your photo to the first page). They're free and you can build a decent site. Show what you can do!
