I'm about to upgrade to a new PC and this means a fresh version of Windows. I know antivirus has been known to slow down your PC and I can definitely tell on my current PC with McAfee installed. I'm just wondering if I need antivirus for my new PC even if I torrent. I mainly torrent movies, anime, and korean variety/dramas, off websites like RARBG.to, 1337x.to, nyaa.si, torrentplay10.com and torrentzoa for korean stuff. I never pirate games, never go looking on youtube for "x game free 2021". I watch adult content sometimes but I use firefox with adblock and like 3 popup blockers; never go to weird adult sites mainly just stick to a couple of the big names. Also use a paid VPN for all of this stuff. Been looking around and some people say bitlocker + windows defender should be fine. I also have an external hard drive for backup of personal files, just using windows backup; is windows backup good enough even if I got attacked by ransomware or something? Have no idea if there are better ways to backup stuff so any advice for that would be appreciated too.
