I recommend MultiDoge or the core wallet. MultiDoge is much quicker and easier, and you don't need to download the entire blockchain. But if you're running it on a desktop with plenty of hard drive space that's always connected to the internet, you're doing the dogecoin network a solid by running a full node (core wallet). I'd probably just fire up MultiDoge to get started. Or, if you're interested in other cryptocurrencies as well, I highly recommend Guarda which works with doge and several others too.
