Does Arch have anything like Debian's Alternatives system, that lets you install multiple versions of the same software?

Personally recommend using Nixpkgs for this purpose. I use it to pin the nodejs version (and pkg deps) as well as GHC (and pkg deps) for a work project and it makes it pretty easy to develop on any Linux distro. If you're brave you may also like to look at NixOS itself; I haven't because I've never had the time to justify doing it when I'm ok with my general "system" packages (kernel, DE etc) just being the latest stable release which is what Arch provides, but I have heard it makes configuring your system really breezy.
