HD 599 Open Backs are good, but I would recommend getting closed-back for a more punchy bass. It all depends on ur listening style. If u prefer to hear sharp trebles and the high frequencies in FPS games a lot more then go for Open Back style headphones but if you like more punchy bass with a fast response then I think it's better to look at closed-back headphones. From what OP is describing, I think closed-back headphones will be better as I'm in the same predicament and currently have both closed and open backs, and the difference in bass response and power is night and day to me. However, if u think open-back headphones is for u, I highly recommend the DROP + HIFIMAN HE4XX headphones to both u and OP as it's a really good studio-quality headphone and has a good low-end punch thanks to the planar magnetic drivers. The impedance is 35 Ohms, so I would recommend getting something like a Fosi Audio Q4 as an amp which will be able to drive these headphones well over it's limits and has good upgradability if you ever think of getting some other headphones. The HE4XX goes for about $180 (on drop.com) and the Fosi Audio Q4 (on amazon.com) goes for $63. For closed backs, my recommendation would be the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohms version as they have a deep and fast bass response with analytical level sound quality throughout the frequency spectrum. I recommend the 80 Ohms version as that seems to have the best sound quality out of all of the other impedance versions without sacrificing too much and this paired with the Fosi Audio Q4 is a good combination. The DT 770 Pro 80 Ohms goes for $159 (on amazon.com) and the Fosi Audio Q4 (on amazon.com) goes for $63. No matter what you choose, just know ur getting some damn good headphones for the money.
