Perhaps. I am looking at https://saidit.net/, Quora, and other platforms as well. Source: 12 months ago
What's the criteria you'd need to be met for "something comparable"? Because I'd say running our own https://saidit.net/ site would be pretty identical. Source: 12 months ago
I love IRC but it serves a slightly different purpose. It isn't threaded and it sacrifices permanency for instantaneousness. In my opinion, a forums and chat rooms compliment each other. Saidit is one good Reddit alternative that implements IRC. It's based on Reddit's code but with some modifications. Every page has an embedded IRC box specific to that subcommunity. For Reddit alternatives, it looks like https://saidit.net/ (https://github.com/libertysoft3/saidit) and https://phuks.co/ (https://github.com/Phuks-co/throat) could be viable alternatives. They're open source, have the UX features we desire (threaded, voting, sorting, collapsing). Source: 12 months ago
Someone already did it - it's called saidit and it works well but very few people have gone there so far. Source: 12 months ago
Nice find, it looks like https://saidit.net/ and https://github.com/Phuks-co/throat could be viable alternatives, I'll add them to the list later. Source: 12 months ago
Create a sub clone on a reddit alternative sight (like https://saidit.net). Direct people to the new sub in the sidebar and periodic posting. Cross post all content until there is a mass exodus al la Digg. Source: 12 months ago
Saidit.net uses the old Reddit code and looks just like Reddit. Source: about 1 year ago
I tried a bunch and almost all of them are rightoid cess pits that can't stop talking about trans people. Hexbear.net is pretty good, left of centre. Out of all the bad ones, do not go to saidit.net. Source: about 1 year ago
Is there a consensus on a different site yet? I've been spamming SaidIt.net on these kinds of threads, with the caveat that it's currently a right-wing shithole (but wouldn't take many people to outnumber the current degenerate userbase). Source: about 1 year ago
People need to decide on a new site. I'm still voting for SaidIt.net; it looks and (mostly) acts like old Reddit. It's a right wing shit hole right now but not nearly as bad as most of the other alternatives. Wouldn't take many people to outnumber the crazies. Source: about 1 year ago
Raddle.me and saidit.net are some of existing alternatives. Source: about 1 year ago
SaidIt - A Reddit fork that's been around for almost six years. It has relatively sane terms (sadly, no porn), and even a fork of RedReader to use with SaidIt. It would be absolutely trivial for third-party Reddit app developers to modify their apps to work with SaidIt. Source: about 1 year ago
I really like https://saidit.net/ but I'm not optimistic that it will be the place people want to go. Source: about 1 year ago
Example clones: saidit.net, notabug.io, (new to me) Scored. Source: about 1 year ago
1 - The functionality of reddit at its core only need a few people to run it. We know this for a fact because thats how it started. And also because there other sites like https://saidit.net/ that work the same as reddit. Source: about 1 year ago
Friendly reminder to go create an account on saidit.net if you haven't already. Source: about 1 year ago
I'm currently considering saidit.net. The owner made a few good anti echo chamber and anti power mod decisions. On the other side the content is pretty wild, but that's the price to pay I guess. Source: about 1 year ago
You could try making a sub on saidit.net which uses the old school open source Reddit code base. Source: about 1 year ago
There's also saidit.net which is basically old.reddit.com. Source: about 1 year ago
It's a documentary about crimes related to ritualistic satanism in the 80s and 90s. That site Saidit.net is a reddit clone made by people seeking to resist the influence of Big Tech online, so if you are interested in reddit alternatives, make sure to visit the site and support it however you can.
