On low end devices i’d recommend installing the Prism Launcher [1] with the Fabulously Optimized modpack [2] 1 https://prismlauncher.org/. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago

Give Prism Launcher a try, it's very similar in terms of UI and functionality, but has more features, more active developers and it's more trustworty (imo). Source: 12 months ago
Personally, I'm using Prism Launcher, which is much better than the "default" Minecraft launcher. It allows you to easily download modpacks from multiple websites (CurseForge, Modrinth, Technic, etc.) and manage multiple instances of the game (as opposed to the default launcher which has everything in one folder). To streamline the process of downloading a the correct version of java, modloader, and mods you might want to look into a 3rd party launcher. Some popular ones are Curseforge's Launcher, Prism, and GDLauncher. Source: 12 months ago
Use the prism mc launcher https://prismlauncher.org. And then find a mod pack that you want to play and follow there download instructions. Source: 12 months ago
There are some features that optifine has that sodium doesn’t, but there are tons of mods that add them. You can find a list here, but Fabulously Optimized is a well-known and popular modpack that adds sodium, other performance mods, missing optifine features, and much more. You can also use Prism Launcher (a fork of MultiMC) for an automatic install of Fabulously Optimized with auto updates, and to be able to... Source: 12 months ago
I recommend Prism as it has the best performance and functionality of any launcher right now. Source: 12 months ago
If you're using one of many modded launchers like Prism, you can see how much RAM is being allocated in the settings menus somewhere. I usually recommend 6-8 GB. Source: 12 months ago
If you're having problems starting it the official way, try the Prism Launcher to bypass the MS crap: https://prismlauncher.org/. Source: 12 months ago
I had the same problem when setting up minecraft and solved it by installing the prism launcher and just adding the mods I wanted there. Adding mods like optifine is just setting a checkbox there. I can really recommend it. Source: 12 months ago
Prism Launcher may also work, but I can't confirm this. Source: almost 1 year ago
Either way, Technic is a super old launcher that I would not recommend using today. You should try Prism Launcher, GDLauncher, or ATLauncher instead, with Prism being my go-to. Source: about 1 year ago
I suggest a brand new minecraft instance using a third party launcher. I prefer prism launcher. Https://prismlauncher.org/. Source: about 1 year ago

Install Prism Launcher and go through the quick setup. Source: about 1 year ago
If you really want to use the vanilla launcher I won't stop you, but I think you will get farther using something like Prism Launcher; it's a lot lighter-weight than CurseForge (and honestly the vanilla launcher too), and you'll just have 1 icon per Minecraft modpack you want to open; no need to worry about "forge installers" or "setting the game directory" or whatnot. Prism Launcher - It has a more minimal interface and is slightly more performant in terms of CPU usage. The built-in mod browser can pull from both of the 2 main modding sites, the interface shows more mods in the list, and it overall responds faster, but it will not automatically download dependency mods.
