The Orion browser might be an answer https://browser.kagi.com/ I haven't personally tried this browser as I'm on Android but heard of it as I'm a Kagi subscriber. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
It sure seems most browser makers aren't trying very hard with the WebKit thing to still be themselves. Check out https://browser.kagi.com/ for one that wraps WebKit with web extensions and other goodness in a unique brand feeling browser. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
Orion is the first browser on iOS that has convinced me to move away from safari. From the Kagi team, and admittedly still in beta, it's fast, rejects telemetry, and allows install of Chrome and Firefox extensions. The built-in pop up and blocking is great, and nukes YT ads too. Still a little rough around the edges (sometimes freezes; restart it; and switching orientation is slow), but the pros outweigh the cons.... - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
I'm trying out Orion by Kagi: https://browser.kagi.com/ They're WebKit-based and for MacOS/iOS/iPadOS only, so they don't get max points for browser diversity, and I can't run it on my Linuxes. As far as I understand, they plan to target more operating systems, and to target the most popular add-ons for other browsers. I'm not satisfied until it supports an OS-agnostic (non-sucky, no thank you 1Password) password... - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
Can any version of StopTheMadness run on Orion? (https://browser.kagi.com). Source: 8 months ago
Tangentially related: Has anyone tried the Orion Browser by Kagi for iOS? https://browser.kagi.com/ They claim to support Firefox and Chrome extensions (specifically, uBlock Origin). It's in beta. I'm surprised Apple hasn't blocked it yet, but I'd consider paying for a developer account just to install it on my phone (assuming it works). - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
Hush is one of the extensions on my devices, but both Hush and AdGuard Pro take a back seat to: A) 1Blocker: https://1blocker.com/ B) Orion Browser by Kagi: https://browser.kagi.com/ The first brings all the blocking customisation one needs to MacOS and iOS Safari, the other runs Firefox and Chrome extensions such as uBlock Origin: https://browser.kagi.com/faq.html#extensions. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
There's nothing that offers all these features and is free. But if you'd like to try Orion browser by Kagi [1], you can install uBlock Origin and many other web extensions for it on Mac, iOS and iPadOS. A paid alternative that is similar (at least for blocking specific elements) is AdGuard [2]. [1]: https://browser.kagi.com/ [2]: https://adguard.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
Another proof point: https://browser.kagi.com/ Though not Windows, it shows marrying up Chrome/Firefox extensions on WebKit engine, with iCloud sync. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
On Apple OS also two alternative browsers rising: Arc https://arc.net and Orion https://browser.kagi.com Both making nice progress with their own strong points. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
Thank you very much for the kind words. Unfortunately we can not influnce the choices that Safari makes, but we did build an entire browser [1] to replace it because of that :) [1] https://browser.kagi.com. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
