I use 17track usually, if the tracking code has been changed and 17track doesn't have it I check Postrack. Postal ninja is also quite good and gives more information than most. I get a lot of value from these tracking services so I definitely can't call them a waste of time. I know the approximate time between certain cities, regions and countries.
