There is a beta of Organic Maps for Linux. Check out bottom of this page: https://organicmaps.app/ I would still want to to know if I can selfhost something of similar, low complexity in my home network. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
I live in a country in Europe where roaming is prohibitively expensive, so use offline OpenStreetMap abroad a lot, with different apps, mostly https://organicmaps.app. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago

When I travel, I look at eater.com for food recs, alltrails.com for hiking recs and google maps for anything not covered by those aggregators. This works out most of the time, and certainly provides higher-quality responses than random people on reddit. Source: 6 months ago

Not a specific destination answer, but I recommend checking out AllTrails. I like the details it provides. The reviews seem fair and the app is great. Source: 11 months ago
How long of a hike/walk? Bridle Trails is fantastic. Trilogy area of Redmond (Redmond Ridge) also has a ton of trails. I highly recommend the alltrails.com app or site. You can search by easy/moderate/hard and distance and using the map zoom into a specific area. Source: 11 months ago
OH and use alltrails.com to look up trails you're interested in and see the latest conditions. If I were you, and people are saying there's an active bear on a trail I would avoid it since you are alone. You'll find some trails people mention not great visibility around some corners or due to huckleberry bushes...I'd avoid those too on your own. Bears might be into huckleberry when you get there and the last thing... Source: 12 months ago
