To be honest, YouTube is not only a platform where you can watch /download the video ,but a wonderful field where you can share and grow personally and help oher people to flourish through sharing your vision , art ,creativity ,etc.
I like the idea of YouTube serving as a search engine and an entertaining feat

Personally, one solution is to subsrcibe for Nebula + CurisoityStream bundle to support creators (bought 2 subscriptions for me and friend) https://curiositystream.com/?coupon=nebula and use something like PeerTube for the rest of the stuff. Youtube have great catalogue of the lectures and other educational material, so it is still kinda irreplaceable. - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago

Just get some popular streamers/channels to do a review/let's play and if they like it you'll get tons of free exposure. I've spent probably hundreds of dollars on indie games in the last year or so from first seeing them on a gaming channel and then pulling it up in steam. Channels like Splattercat are a great resource for indie gamers & studios alike: https://youtube.com/@splattercatgaming. - Source: Hacker News / 11 days ago
I suggest checking out Jaka Parker's video. He's a diplomat that can go to places where most tourists can't. Channel: https://youtube.com/@jakaparker Here's a video of him going on a bike ride, you can see a ton of people in it: https://youtube.com/watch?v=CDcfiEX__cA. - Source: Hacker News / 12 days ago
