Is this common on the unifi network app for Mac?

To add to what others have said while trying and failing to be technical about it. This is normal. The web browser is saying this because it has no way to tell if the site you are trying to go to is the real site or has been faked in some way. So this warning just means you need to make sure on your own that what you are connecting to is what you think you are connecting to. When going to a site out on the internet there are a few authorities your computer will trust when they say a site is who they are and who they say they are. So you go to apple.com (they are their own certificate authority so apple is promising apple is apple, not a great example) ok so go to facebook.com and digicert.com will vouch that the facebook.com you went to is the real facebook.com. In order to get a certificate you have to prove to a certificate authority you own the domain name of the website. This can't be done in a home network because there is no way for you to prove you own a 192.x.x.x address or a .local address. That doesn't mean you can't tell your computer to trust a certain self-signed certificate at a certain address it just won't happen automatically and it's on you to make sure you aren't being tricked into going to the wrong site.
