I would add Restic to the list of backup software. As it's very similar to Borg afaik, I'd put it as " Borg/ResticCLI ".

  8. A second brain, for you, forever. Obsidian is a powerful knowledge base that works on top of a local folder of plain text Markdown files.
You really need to get Obsidian in there for note taking. All markdown (with a new WYSIWYG mode, too). All on the filesystem, so you can pick up and move elsewhere if you want, or easily back it up. Cross-platform.

MemPad is a plain text outliner and note taking program with a structured index.
That looks interesting! The app that keeps me on windows is a small, .txt based, outliner - something that for some strange reason don't seem to exist in the 'nix-sphere. I have tried asking Linux forums for suggestions for a comparable program, but always get '[[REDACTED ]]off' answers... I keep literally thousands of outline files on removable media, and (for archival purposes) all needs to be followed by the originating program, something that is easy to do with a 300 kB program like MemPad, but is completely unrealistic to do with Emacs Org Mode... What I want is a setup like the one in this album, but that appears to be hard to do in Linux?

  11. Visual Studio dev tools & services make app development easy for any platform & language. Try our Mac & Windows code editor, IDE, or Azure DevOps for free.
It is not. Regular old Visual Studio is though, as they also highlight here by referring to VS as an IDE and again referring to VSCode as a source code editor.
