YouTube-DLG (https://mrs0m30n3.github.io/youtube-dl-gui/) is by far my fave method after all this time. It's an open source desktop app so no need to deal w Bs ads or potential malware or any sort of other nonsense. Source: 12 months ago
It seems that you have found a site that uses Media Source Extensions to stream videos. Firefox is receiving the video in small pieces, making it impossible to download the entire video all at once using the context menu. Give youtube-dl-gui a try. It can download full videos from many sites, including Youtube. Source: about 1 year ago
Hello, I have been using youtubedl for 3 years now. First, I used it via py, then I downloaded the command exe, but it stopped working, after which I switched to youtube-dl-gui, which it worked fine up until a month ago. Now I'm on yt-dlg, and it works but in a weird way. .mp4s are downloaded fine, but when I try to download an .mp3, it's usually done in a matter of seconds and the status at the end always says... For downloading from BBC Sounds - Youtube-DLG is what you want - https://mrs0m30n3.github.io/youtube-dl-gui/. Just paste the link in and it will download it. You can also use get_iplayer if you want to dabble in the command line stuff. Source: about 1 year ago
If your channel is possibly at risk and you don't have backups of your content, maybe take a look at this: https://mrs0m30n3.github.io/youtube-dl-gui/. Source: over 1 year ago
Alternatively if you don't like the command line then you could use something like youtube-dlg, which is a gui interface - https://mrs0m30n3.github.io/youtube-dl-gui/ and you just need to paste in the iPlayer link to the show and it will download the video file. Source: over 1 year ago
I have this one. It has a GUI - it's pretty easy to use. Source: over 1 year ago
There are a number of GUIs for youtube-dl, youtube-dlg being one of the somewhat easier to use and lightweight compared w/ some others. I stress 'somewhat easier to use' because none are child's play unless all you want to do is rip video from youtube. Source: over 1 year ago
Use YouTube-DLP. All the songs without the ads. Source: over 1 year ago
I'm guessing you'd prefer a gui interface over command line: https://mrs0m30n3.github.io/youtube-dl-gui/. Source: almost 2 years ago
There's also a lazy trend toward using extensive, bloated libraries to save work. Someone writes a program using Qt, Python, .Net on Windows, and God-knows-what-else, then they call it cross-platform OSS. But each of those systems of libraries has dependencies on each OS platform. The result is often wildly bloated, poorly written software that's comprised of several levels of wrappers. I was just looking at such... Source: about 2 years ago

The graphical front-end of YouTube-dl which is a popular open source program works well https://mrs0m30n3.github.io/youtube-dl-gui/. Source: about 2 years ago

I am using Youtube-DLG 0.4 (http://mrs0m30n3.github.io/youtube-dl-gui). A GUI for Win32-systems to utilize Youtube-dl in the background. Now to my question, if I click "Update", will I receive the latest version of youtube-dl or do I need to update that manually? Source: about 2 years ago
Youtube DL. Despite the name, it's not Youtube only; point it at a video on Reddit and it'll download it for you. Source: over 2 years ago
Youtube-DL is 100% the right answer, great too. And if you find the command line a bit to intimidating, you can try this GUI version. Source: over 2 years ago
