  • Best way or app to batch convert FLACs to AIFFs or WAVs?
XLD is a solid open source option. It also preserves all metadata and/or will search your online db of choice to fill in the gaps. I've been using it for years and really enjoy it. - Source: Reddit / 15 days ago

  • Converting FLAC/WAV to mp3?
XLD (MacOS only) is freeware and can convert between all major audio formats. Whatever you use make sure to produce high quality MP3s (320/44.1./16bit/CBR). Not every conversion to MP3 will sound the same, (aka mp3 encoders). Quality wise I like the MP3s that iTunes produces most, but iTunes can't convert from FLAC. - Source: Reddit / 3 months ago

  • How the FLAC format compresses audio without loss of quality
I wish apple supported FLAC. There’s an amazing free tool to convert to/from ALAC (https://tmkk.undo.jp/xld/index_e.html), but still: some players only support FLAC and some ALAC and sometimes you can’t transfer songs in either format because of the no overlap between source/target. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
  • PSA: Putting FLAC files in "Automatically Add To Music" will DELETE them, because Apple Music doesn't think they are music files

Try converting to AIFF using a different program and then also try ALAC (the Apple FLAC equivalent) . You can use XLD for the conversions. At least you'll see if it's a converter issue (MusicBee) or a codec issue that's causing problems. - Source: Reddit / over 1 year ago
