  • Q + A Peptide Serum Question
Not a direct answer for your question, but I found What’s In My Jar to be very helpful to check product ingredients and their efficiency against promises. It also shows if any of the ingredients can cause irritation or make you break out. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Developed allergy to common skincare ingredients, need help!!
I feel for you, I also have a few very common ingredients that I have to totally avoid and it can make things really tricky! Something that I've found incredibly useful is to use incidecoder.com or whatsinmyjar.com as they both allow you to exclude ingredients when you search for products, which saves a lot of time wading through products and looking up ingredient lists individually. Best of luck on your search! Source: about 2 years ago
  • Horrible reaction to Pacifica Vegan Collagen product… apparently I’m not alone
It’s posted in the subtitle of the picture but it’s https://whatsinmyjar.com. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Seeking advice regarding seborrheic dermatitis (aka "face dandruff.")
It really is amazing. And I was allergy tested too and none of these things were tested for. I like to check https://whatsinmyjar.com/. They let you know if ingredients are known irritants or not. But once I found some stuff I liked, I just kept repurchasing it and don't use the site much anymore. Good luck. I hope you get longer relief from something. And by June! Have a great time at the wedding! Source: over 2 years ago
  • Simple moisturizer for overactive sinuses.
The SkinSafe app and https://whatsinmyjar.com are great for finding products that do not contain your triggers/allergens. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Allergic reaction on eyelids and corners of mouth, multiple patch tests and still wondering what it could be. [Product request]
You have to find out specifically what ingredient you're allergic to and then read the labels. My patch test came back with thimerosal and they told me it goes by several names. I don't trust labels just saying hypoallergenic. Also, fragrance and fragrant essential oils are my biggest triggers even though nothing showed up on my patch tests. Baby products can contain fragrance. I like to check this site... Source: over 2 years ago
  • Goldfaden MD Bright Eyes - stinging/burning?
There's so many ingredients in skincare products that could be a potential allergen or irritant. I like to use the website, what's in my jar (WIMJ) : https://whatsinmyjar.com/ they have a database of skincare products and you can have one added if they don't. I look up everything I ever get now because I have sensitive skin. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Have you ever used this product& how did it effect your skin?! Clinique: anti blemish solutions toner.
This happened to me too with different products. I now always check ingredients and use less than the directions say. Many people can't tolerate salicylic acid daily even without the drying alcohol and witch hazel. I like to check out this website before I buy to at least see if any of the ingredients are known irritants: Https://whatsinmyjar.com/. Source: over 2 years ago
  • For my brothers struggling with T-induced acne!
I also recommend trying Whats In My Jar if all this skincare stuff sounds like gibberish to you. Their quiz helped me fill in the gaps in my routine and they break down the ingredients and properties of different products in a way thats super easy to understand. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Do you really read the ingredient list?
I don't know for sure with some, I assume. When I used azelaic acid or foaming cleansers I would have the same reaction no matter the brand. Now if I'm trying something new I usually check https://whatsinmyjar.com/ because they let you know if ingredients are known irritants or not. Doesn't mean you'll get irritation but for me personally with my skin it's a good possibility I will. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Uh, I'm just starting. What's a good moisturizer you can recommend? Or at least something
I love and recommend cerave lotion but for some people it causes breakouts. I tried the ordinary's moisturizer but I had some irritation. Cetaphil and vanicream lotions are also gentle and like cerave, free of fragrances, fragrant essential oils, and drying alcohols, which is great for people with eczema. I usually check https://whatsinmyjar.com/ for known irritants since I have sensitive skin. But you never... Source: almost 3 years ago
  • [routine help] - The Ordinary products; mixing with Drunk Elephant
You can use this website to lookup potential irritants in skincare products and analyze your routine for any overlapping active ingredients or things that shouldn’t be used at the same time and gives you suggestions for what you might be missing. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • First picture is before tret and second picture is going on over A YEAR using it. My skin cleared using tret and winlevi for about 4-5 months now it’s back worse than ever and my remote forehead is covered and it gets worse over time. Should I just stop using the tret now? Im super depressed😞

  • DE stalking, saving face kits are live!
Oh, it’s worth it. To reveal myself a bit further, I’ve been serious into skincare since I was 25 and I’m now 42. I get the most questions about skincare because I genuinely love skincare and the ritual of it. Obviously sunscreen is huge, but it’s a lot about the washing AM/PM and finding what works for your skin type. I stick to clean, DE to me has a decent price point w/o being ridiculous (side eye to La Mer and... Source: almost 4 years ago
  • Any tips for a newbie with sensitive/dry skin?
I have sensitive dry skin, and I found one big thing was avoiding perfumes in skincare. I now have a skincare regime down that I’m pretty happy with, and one thing I did, because I’m not all that well versed in the science myself, is run all my products I’m using and then all the products I was looking at getting through https://whatsinmyjar.com :) they even have a little service where you can input your regime...
