  I'm a Unity fanboy, not so much an Unreal one :P So I would point you to Unity! Download Unity Hub, create new project, as base select Core -> First Person. Then you have an empty project with a first person character controller that can walk. Import the fbx (just drag it into the assets folder), then drag it into the scene.   Go download Unity right now and watch (or bookmark) some Brackeys videos. Having something to show and interact with is so much more motivating than just doing conceptual development.   They started learning about how it works anyways and then they knew a bit, then a little, then a decent amount, and then a lot about it. Programming is about learning how to build with your thoughts, you can create structures and pathways out of concepts and ideas in your mind. If that sounds cool at all I would suggest you play around with it, it's basically completely free if you have a computer (or even phone)... Source: over 2 years ago
