A free and independent peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing service from the Netherlands, with a focus on privacy and security.
ToffeeShare uses an end to end encrypted peer to peer technology to transfer files directly from your own device to other devices.
Found out about it when I was trying to send a 10GB file, been using it for a couple of months now whenever I gotta transfer something large.

I have heard and used Toffee share . It's and blazingly fast. But, it's not open source. I tried searching a lot for FOSS alternatives to it, but all of them had problems like requiring you to be connected in a LAN, terribly slow speed and limited file size even though it's a p2p file sharing. So I am here asking you guys for some alternatives that are as good as toffeeshare and are open source. Source: over 1 year ago

There limitations are a bit ridiculous, and the file hosting portion is a bit unsafe. Toffee Share is miles better if you're looking for something without the middle man. Source: about 2 years ago
Toffee Share seems to be rather promising. Only sky is the limit with this one and it's not for local use only like snapdrop suggested in the comments seems to be. This toffee share works almost exactly like what I had in mind. It's only for browser though but it works! Source: over 2 years ago
