Social recommendations and mentions

  • Series Faraway Downs is not on the site
When I attempted to create an account to update the page with season/episode info, I never received an email to verify my account. Seemed kind of odd since I saw one page offering to give me points for contributing to thetvdb.com site. Source: 4 months ago
  • Episode showing up in one instance of Plex but not the other?
Use the full show name as listed in TMDB or TVDB. Source: 5 months ago
  • Website or Tracker to get untouched/uncompressed movie posters?
Fanart.tv, themoviedb.org, thetvdb.com will have artwork for TV shows and movies at pretty good quality. Source: 10 months ago
  • Auto tag file name
Check the listing at TVDB to see if one of those matches your episode numbers. Source: 10 months ago
  • How to name single episodes, specifically natgeo
First, read through the naming guidelines to see how Plex expects shows/episodes to be named and organized. Then, you can look at TVDB/TMDB to see what episodes your files can actually be matched against:. Source: 10 months ago
  • Can I force Plex to change the order of a show season
Further to this, if you're not sure which order is the one you want then you can go look up the show on thetvdb.com which is where Plex is getting all that from. Source: 10 months ago
  • Long time watchers… can you help me and let me know if this “flooding” storyline from the early/mid 2000’s happened or if I made it up?
If you have some time on your hands, you can check out thetvdb.com. They have brief recaps of every episode starting in 2000. Also, soap central.com has recaps going back to the beginning although, but it's not for every single day. The consistent recaps begin in 1997. Source: 10 months ago
  • Last Steam season 6 missing from the internet?
According to thetvdb.com it aired from November 2018 to Jan 21st 2020, by far the largest season of LSOTL, and that website has been 100% accurate for every other season so I'm guessing those are the right dates. Source: 10 months ago
  • Is there any way to show IMDb ratings here insted of Rotten tomatoes? I've tried googling but couldn't find a definitive answer.
For TV shows, Plex uses data from themoviedb.org and thetvdb.com. Source: 11 months ago
  • Don't let Reddit kill 3rd party apps
Don't forget Gracenote, who was founded on this very principle. It just keep happening and happening, too. https://thetvdb.com/ is the latest one I've seen. User generated content, open API (with request throttling to prevent abuse) for years and now some media company swoops in, buys it and goodbye free API! It's spitting in the face of their entire community and really infuriating. - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
  • RARBG is down and out!?
Thetvdb.com has a section called Discover. One link called "On Today" will list most popular shows airing that day. You can go back or forward as well. I've used that as well for ideas or to set reminders for future sailing destinations. Source: 11 months ago
  • Plex naming TV episodes wrong
Also, Plex uses TMDB & TVDB for organizing episodes. With TVDB, you can choose between aired, DVD, and Absolute ordering. Check the episode ordering on both sites and see if one of the options fits how your files are organized. Source: 11 months ago
  • Metadata from wrong season
The show exists on thetvdb.com with correct data. Source: 11 months ago
  • TV show not showing up correctly, Plex and Sonarr have wrong info
Plex doesn't use IMDb for episode naming/ordering. Assuming you're using the Plex TV Series agent, it uses TMDB's episode ordering by default, but can be changed to use TVDB. Source: 11 months ago
  • Jellyfin Shows episodes that I don't have as if I do
Are you following the proper naming convention? As long as I follow this and set the TheTVDB metadata provider as first for my library, I rarely have problems. Check TheTVDB for how your special episodes should be named. It’s likely something like “Pokémon - S00E07.mkv” or something. Source: 12 months ago
  • Identify episodes
Once you figure that out, I normally go to thetvdb.com and look at the picture of the episode and then skim through the episode and see if I can find a picture that matches, people wearing the same clothes, the same background, etc. Source: 12 months ago
  • /r/Plex's Moronic Mondays' No Stupid Questions Thread - 2023-04-17
Not really. You can add a single film ot a TV series as a special episode. Put it in a folder called Specials (instead of Season 01, Season 02, etc) and give it a name like S00E01 - Futurama Bender's Big Score. But before you do this, check on thetvdb.com and see if someone has already put associated films into the Specials listing of your series. In this case someone hase. Bender's Big Score is S00E02, The Beast... Source: about 1 year ago
  • MotoGP naming issue?
I've had no issues with MotoGP episodes in Plex in the past, but this year, I'm getting mismatches. For example, I'm naming using thetvdb.com conventions, so the Moto3 race today should be something like "MotoGP S2023E57.mkv", but it's showing up in Plex as a May race in France that would be episode 67. • DVD collection advice
Is it a collection from the same show, or various old cartoons? In general, my process is to go to the show on TVDB, then to the "all seasons" view (e.g. This for Looney Tunes: https://thetvdb.com/series/looney-tunes/allseasons/official), then start matching up the episode names on your discs with what TVDB lists it as. It's tedious, but is the only way I know of to get good metadata brought in automatically. Source: about 1 year ago
  • How to add audio/.mp3 files for TV-Show (Specials / Podcasts)? Files not recognized...
Since starting to use TMM some years ago, I exclusively managed video files for movies and tv-shows with it. Lately, I wanted to add the tv-show "The Last of Us" and with it, add all "Specials" which are listed on thetvdb.com: https://thetvdb.com/series/the-last-of-us/seasons/official/0. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Another post about Dragon Ball (Z) Kai
Check its entry on https://thetvdb.com If it doesn’t match up there, nothing you do will make Plex add it. Source: about 1 year ago
