  I know that I know more, sometimes I forget I know it. thefreedictionary.com has a graphical Thesaurus. Take the word Good for example. It breaks it down into five words: Excellent, Sensible, Fine, Proficient, Positive. Then it has off-shoots for each of those five.   So sorry for the late reply! One I used a lot was Dorland's Illustrated Medical Dictionary. And I used thefreedictionary.com half the time, it was easier, faster, it has a medical section, and the definitions are on point.   I recently saw the word "functioning" used as a noun rather than an adjective or a verb with the meaning "The way in which something operates". Is this correct usage?   Thefreedictionary.com notes that that usage is rather informal and 3 out of 5 definitions there refer to autocrats/monarchs. And I'm sure that's how most people would read it.
