  • Creating Quick and Easy Pixel Maps
Im a fan of RPG Map Editor by Deepnight Games. Its PWYW and has a nice clean style and exports nicely for VTT. Source: 11 months ago
  • Looking for map-making software recommendations
Https://deepnight.net/tools/rpg-map/ RPG Map Editor 2 is another useful level and map editor which is user friendly and fun to use. It's not as aesthetically customizable, but that is in the effort of trying to take a lot of the logistics out of map creation for you. It's set up so you can get some art to paper and make maps fast. Has it's own art and such, and it is 8 bit styled so while it's not a perfect... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Map-Makers, which is the best for Battle Maps?
Dungeon Scrawl and Dungeon Map Doodler are great for just a quick, gridded map. I also really like Map Forge as a Dungeondraft alternative. I don't see it discussed very much, but I think it is a nice alternative and there is a free version. Finally, the Deep Knight Map Editor is a really underrated tool that I think more people should talk about. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Software for Dnd Gameplay
I've also had decent results with RPG Map (https://deepnight.net/tools/rpg-map/) for making some simple maps of rooms just so you can see where the tables are, how big the room is, etc. It exports your creations as a standard .jpg or .png image you can then load into whatever tabletop you prefer, eg. Roll20. Source: about 1 year ago

  • Switching over to SWN for a digital game. Inkarnate has been my go to for maps, but they don't have Sci Fi assets. What's your go-to map making software for SWM?
Use this one for tactical. Free and simple. Or Miska's maps for prettier, premade stuff. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Post Your Missions/Encounters
Would you recommend Dungeondraft for battlemaps? The battlemaps I found in the wiki (like the ones on this page) look really great. I've been using RPGMap2 for my maps, but yours look so nice that it got me to considering getting Dungendraft. Do you need a lot of external resource packs? Source: about 1 year ago
  • [oc] My son is a DM so I made him this. think it look ok for a 2 hours job.
For making maps, I personally recommend RPG Map Editor 2 by DeepNight Games. It’s saved me a ton of time personally from drawing in paint.net, and the result looks far better. While I’ve exclusively used it downloaded to desktop, I discovered it does support browser only use: https://deepnight.net/tools/rpg-map/. It also supports downloading assets if you want repeated static features, but for dynamic ones I... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Operation Solstice Rain - The first of Massif's mission content releasing this year

This is super simple, grid based. Scale can be kinda janky if you’re using for roll20, but you can get sort it out with some practice. RPG map maker. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Relctance to start a homebrew campaign
I see three options here if battlemaps are your big hangup: first, try to find a good program to make them. I'm a big fan of https://deepnight.net/tools/rpg-map/ since it's super easy to use. Second, if you really dont want to make a battle map, try to find one online. Lots of GMs or artists post free maps for the community to use. And third, why do you need a battle map? Theater of the mind is a perfectly valid... Source: over 1 year ago
  • Little one page dungeon for beginners to explore
I made this little dungeon to run my players through for my first few sessions. I used Deepnight's RPG map editor 2 (https://deepnight.net/tools/rpg-map/) which I really love for keeping my own tendencies to create excruciating detail in check. Source: over 1 year ago
  • I feel like 'art direction' is an underutilized part of the VTT experience. A test I made for OSR-type games!
Would recommend, with tools like https://deepnight.net/tools/rpg-map/ and RPGMaker and its assets, it's quite easy to archive something really nice. Source: over 1 year ago
