  I also used music. The right, subtle music can really put people on edge. Next time you're watching a horror movie, put it on mute for a little while and watch the tension drain out of a lot of scenes. You want something that's low-key and almost easy to tune out--if it's too on the nose, it could distract from what you're trying to say or cue them that something is up. tabletopaudio.com has a lot of good subtle...
