I've been using Syncplay for that, it's a native Windows/Linux/Mac app and supports both local files and streaming (via youtube-dl/yt-dlp). It's also free software. - Source: Reddit / 4 months ago
Https://syncplay.pl/ is the best option if you want everyone to have the same video/audio quality, but everyone needs to have the same file. - Source: Reddit / 5 months ago
I developed a web app that allowed my friends and me to watch the same video synchronously during the lock-downs. The video would be served by my server, and anybody could control the playback. Pausing or seeking would do it for everyone. We would all connect to a Jitsi Meet room so we could here people laugh or react to the video. I called this "Meet Anyway", it was my first Svelte app, and never released it for... - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
We love watching movies / series together so Syncplay, TeleParty and Disney+'s GroupWatch are must haves to us. - Source: Reddit / 7 months ago
I've been told Discord is pretty choppy/and Zoom can be pretty choppy in my experience. I was told about Twitch? But I'm not that familiar with its capabilities. I found https://syncplay.pl/ but I wanted to see if there any other options people might have? - Source: Reddit / 7 months ago
Syncplay : This one lets me and my partner watch our downloaded movies toghether. We dont use any of the subscription services and this come in nicely to substitute akward "3...2..1..1Now". - Source: Reddit / 9 months ago
SyncPlay is one of the most popular FOSS apps for organizing watch parties. It would be great to make Bigscreen compatible with SyncPlay protocol to be able to watch movies together even with those who has no VR headset. - Source: Reddit / 9 months ago
Syncplay - This program just controls the playback controls. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
If it were android, there would be SyncPlayer as a possible option which is the unofficial android app of SyncPlay. Even though it was designed to watch things together, since people may have different copies it goes by raw timecode, so it wouldn't care if 3 different videos were played. - Source: Reddit / over 1 year ago
You could try out Syncplay, I haven’t personally tried it out myself but should work. https://syncplay.pl. - Source: Reddit / over 1 year ago
Also another option for watching something together is https://syncplay.pl/ (along with a video player like VLC) which requires you both to have the same video file and syncs the playback so you both watch the same part (within a second or two). - Source: Reddit / over 1 year ago
You want to avoid streaming anything outside of the hotel, since the WiFi is probably bad. Instead, play the same video on your laptop and on your computer at home, and sync it using SyncPlay. - Source: Reddit / over 1 year ago
Are you limited to android devices? I use syncplay on the computer and just have our phones on the side in a call. - Source: Reddit / over 1 year ago
If you're willing to use VLC (which is a great media player already) and are using local files, SyncPlay is a great solution. It has shared controls (both fast forwarding and pausing) along with a playlist queue. - Source: Reddit / over 1 year ago
Use syncplay This will sync both of your video players but you both need the same video file for it to work. - Source: Reddit / over 1 year ago
Yes! You can both download the same file before hand and use VLC player with https://syncplay.pl It syncs the video playback so if anyone pauses, it pauses for the other person as well. I’d pair this with zoom’s PIP video mode so you have a smaller floating video of your date while you watch the movie. - Source: Reddit / over 1 year ago
Are you on about: https://syncplay.pl/ if so that has nothing to do with Jellyfin. - Source: Reddit / over 1 year ago
Despite the fact that you’re apart, get creative and find things that you can do together. For example, you could see the same movie then discuss it on the phone (or use Syncplay if you have the same video file locally downloaded on each computer, to chat in real time while watching); or, you could read the same book, or join an online group. Also, give your partner something that reminds them of you so you’re... - Source: Reddit / over 1 year ago
