  • Is Plexamp an effective solution for moving local files to an iOS device without iTunes?
It does. Give a try to Swinsian instead, it's not free but it worth every pennies. I manage a 20k+ flac collection with ease with it. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Can anyone recommend a good Mac mp3 player to add star ratings to tracks?
Swinsian is one of the best music players on macOS - you can edit idv3 tags directly from the player. Source: about 1 year ago
  • I stopped streaming music, and went back to my iPod Shuffle

  • Whipper: Accurate Audio CD Ripping
I found Swinsian[1] after I ditched iTunes, It works quite good and I’m very happy with it. While I rip all tracks separately the FAQ states: „Swinsian also supports albums ripped as a single file together with a cue file, and FLAC, Ogg Vorbis and WavPack files with embedded cue information„. There is a free trial, maybe this works for you. [1] https://swinsian.com/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago

  • itunes what's next
Having tried Music, having tried iTunes thru Retroactive, I have jettisoned both and I highly recommend Swinsian, which will remind you very much of all the good bits of iTunes, with none of the garbage. Recommended to anyone who has a vast music library of mp3/wav/aiff/flac, etc. And likes to curate their own stuff. Search is easy, no spinning beach balls, very much user controlled and modifiable. Yes, it's a... Source: about 2 years ago
  • I still miss the iTunes.app
Feel the same. Swinsian is a great iTunes replacement if you’ve never seen it. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Can anyone recommend a native FLAC playing (no converting/importing to Apple Music) M1 compatible Music Library (no VLC) app?
Swinsian is an older, more matured library-based music player that is inspired by older itunes releases. It has a number of power user features, though it has no dark mode yet. Works very well, if it isn't native for m1 (i haven't checked) it still performs like it is. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Foobar2000
On the Mac front I use and love Swinsian (https://swinsian.com). It's like iTunes as it was in 2001. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago

    > Cog for something similar for macOS. https://swinsian.com/ is another choice. Not a free or oss one though. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago

  • Seeking music library alternative to iTunes

  • Is there MacOS software that will let me drag-and-drop music onto an iPod Classic
I use Swinsian to do it without going the Rockbox route, works really well and avoids/let's you know if you're about to copy over duplicates etc. Source: over 2 years ago
  • What are the best open source music players for desktop?
If you're on a Mac, Swinsian is pretty good. (swinsian.com) And, it can be a pretty text-heavy interface if that's preferred. I hate all the garbage like album cover-art that's just used for tracking purposes in music apps. If you're still ripping CD's XLD does a nice job of ripping FLAC files. (my preferred format) On, Linux, Rhythmbox is pretty decent. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Looking for library manager that can handle multiple artists (ie song by A and B shows up in list of songs by A and list of songs by B)... suggestions?
