  • Highlights from Stripe's annual 2023 letter
Stripe published its 2023 annual letter last week. Much like the previous edition it was filled with a lot of interesting nuggets. Stripe has a strong history of being fairly transparent with its practices. These range from engineering challenges through its blogs as well as thought leadership in the financial and entrepreneurship space. I personally like the writing style of this letter as it doesn’t seem... - Source: dev.to / about 1 month ago
  • Hyper IDE, using No-Code and Low-Code to Generate Software
Imagine you want to create an API endpoint that allows users to register in your backend, while simultaneously making a payment towards Stripe. This could be for something that's a subscription-based service, where you charge people for access to something. - Source: dev.to / 3 months ago
  • We made a tool to detect big signups to your SaaS app. Want to be a beta tester?
Our app – Upollo – connects with your app event data (like Segment) and payment data (like Stripe) to analyze your users and instantly figure out if someone is an important player in your industry. We also help you convert more users, reduce churn, and expand single seats to teams within a company. We're SOC 2 certified and we take data security very seriously. Source: 4 months ago
  • Roast my landing page: AI version?
That's cool - my page is still under development. But have you tried running it on something like https://stripe.com/ to see if the generates interesting results. Could share results here? DMing you also. Source: 4 months ago
  • How do you define the width of your website across breakpoints?
Stripe is a great example of this as their margins on the side are visible with a faint line. All content is inside this except for some images and decorations. Source: 5 months ago
  • API integration with Stripe.js
Before going through the integration process, you need to sign up for a Stripe account. Go to the Stripe website and follow the registration process. • Ask HN: What are some well-designed websites?
For me Stripe is the peak for a product/company website: https://stripe.com/ I heard some people admire https://linear.app/ but I don't see the appeal myself Majority of websites often fall into one of two categories: 1. Traditional off the shelf template 2. Look cool but fail when it comes to usability and robustness (those featured on awwwards). - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
  • How to Process Stripe Subscriptions In Your Serverless Apps
You could have the best service in the world, but if you have a payment gateway that leaves people feeling uncomfortable, you'll lose them. Not only that, but you have PCI compliance you would need to deal with and a slew of other things that are handled for you with a payment vendor like Stripe, Square, or PayPal. - Source: dev.to / 8 months ago

  • Using Stripe to Implement Payment handling on a website
First you'll want to go to Stripe's website and setup an account. Then install Stripe with pip install stripe. In this example I'm using Flask for the backend and React for the frontend. The website is an e-commerce page for buying and selling skateboards. Now create some models for the product to sell and the receipts then run flask db init, flask db migrate, and flask db upgrade to create the database. My models... - Source: dev.to / 9 months ago

Stripe allows issuing cards, similar to how cash app, Venmo and other payment platforms issues cards to users. I’ve personally never issued a card but the documentation is there and should be simple! Source: 10 months ago

  • Debate Land Beta 0.2 is out!
I've spent my fair share of time in Silicon Valley on some of the coolest startups in the tech scene. So, a lot of our inspiration comes from companies like Stripe (e.g. Their landing page) and Linear (e.g. Their gradient usage). And, the data display architecture you're referencing (down to the layout on shift on screen sizes) is almost a perfect clone of the NBA's. And there's definitely a team there that costs... • Easy Tiger is doing away with the shitty QR code ordering system and bringing back face-to-face servers.
Look, absolutely millions of people are going to type credit card numbers into https://amazon.com and https://stripe.com and https://squareup.com/ this year and nobody will get their credentials stolen or their credit card compromised. I mean, far far fewer then from the waiter or checkout person taking a quick photo of your credit card while they run it through the Point of Sale device physically. Source: 11 months ago
  • Easy Tiger is doing away with the shitty QR code ordering system and bringing back face-to-face servers.
Toast uses SSL. So does Stripe (https://stripe.com/) and so does Square (https://squareup.com/us/en/payments). Everybody, without fail now uses HTTPS (SSL), they really do. That ship sailed. If you use the Chrome web browser, anything not serving up puppy pictures over HTTPS says "Not Secure" for the last HALF DECADE. If you google "PCI compliance" it's literally THE LAW that it is required for handling... Source: 11 months ago

Would you use Paddle, Chargebee, Chargify, or just Stripe?
As mentioned, we have worked with naked Stripe before, but as much as I love Stripe, the subscription management product of theirs does not even come close to Chargebee's ease of use and customisation features. Stripe is definitely good to get up-and-running quickly, but you're signing up for a lot of lost time on data migration later-on when you need to switch to a more battle-proven subscription management...

PayPal vs Stripe for small businesses in 2019
Initially, payments for fman were handled exclusively via Stripe. This let customers pay by credit card. But I got many requests that people also wanted to use PayPal. So I added it as a second option. It was a horrible experience: PayPal's APIs are extremely difficult to use. Supposedly, Braintree make it possible to integrate PayPal much more easily.
