  • Nvtop: Linux Task Monitor for Nvidia, AMD and Intel GPUs
Its not a terminal app like bottom or nvtop but I use https://github.com/exelban/stats and it has iGPU stats. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 month ago
  • Hard disk LEDs and noisy machines
I’ve found stats [1] to be a great open source alternative to the iStat Menus system monitor app mentioned in the article. [1] https://github.com/exelban/stats. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • A standalone Activity Monitor alternative that isn't on the menu bar and shows stats for individual apps and groups processes by app?
Have not used it for quite some time, and I think it was launching the Mac system monitor , it does don't have its own widow , but you can check this https://github.com/exelban/stats. Source: 10 months ago
  • iOS 16.5.1 and macOS 13.4.1 Address Actively Exploited Vulnerabilities, Make Sure to Update
Install stats and put it in your menu bar. It will show the top processes. If my battery is going down quicker than usual I check there and it is usually some hungry tab in Firefox. But I've also noticed bluetoothd using way more CPU than I would expect. Source: 10 months ago
  • Any better-looking alternatives for iStats menu?
Don't know about 'better looking', but I use https://github.com/exelban/stats. Source: 10 months ago
  • ELI5: Why do computers get so enragingly slow after just a few years?
Use a tool like smFanControl, Macs Fan Control, or Stats to manually set your fan speed to 100%. This is noisy and reduces the lifetime of the part, but it means you can force your device to cool down, even when the OS doesn't want to. Source: 10 months ago
  • Which apps do you install first on any new Mac?
I use, stats, its like istat menus but free and the dev adds almost every feature that is requested! Source: 11 months ago
  • Macbook Pro heating up during summer in a room just with fan. Do you'll face the same problem?
I had a mac-book air 2017 , the fan rpm stays at 1200 rpm irrespective of temperature. So I used this to https://github.com/exelban/stats to manually increase the fan speed. Source: 11 months ago
  • Air m1 2020 free temperature monitor app? Also case advice…

I was looking around and testing stat monitors for macOS, including Sensei, iStat Menus 6, iStatistica, and landed on a free, open source solution called Stats. Source: about 1 year ago
  • What is this within Activity Monitor?
If you are using Homebrew, try brew install stats to get https://github.com/exelban/stats, and then run /Applications/Stats.app. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Chip Level GPU Details
Another kind redditor advised me to get the hardware details of my GPU from an app that does such things, but alas, it is Windows only. I've been hunting around for a Mac app with similar capabilities, and have found one or two, but none which appear to provide the detail needed. Source: about 1 year ago
  • I was a MacOS hater until...
Stats does mostly the same as Istat, just free and opensource: https://github.com/exelban/stats. Source: about 1 year ago
  • How interested are you in placing widgets directly on your desktop in MacOS?
Calendar is more difficult. I have iStat Menus so that's where I get mine from, since it drops down off the clock. I wonder if it'd be worth a feature request for https://github.com/exelban/stats so that it could be used as a full free replacement for iStat... Source: about 1 year ago
  • Are these normal temps for M1 MacBook Pro M1 Max?
Check out Stats, it’s free and customizable. Stats (I am not connected to the developer or company - just a happy Mac user :). Source: about 1 year ago

  • Turn off fan when CPU temperature is low?
Hi everyone, I just got my M1 max studio today, but I found that using a lot of sensor detection softwares, such as stats to monitor it, the minimum fan speed of mac studio is 1100 RPM. It's quiet when you manually crank it up to 1100 rpm. But the temperature of the CPU is often only about 35 degrees, so there is no need to turn on the fan and suck the dust, right? So I want to know is there any software to... Source: about 1 year ago
