I wouldn't call it a pain in the ass with XP, unironically, Win2k/XP are actually the easiest "retro" OSes to find drivers for, with something like Snappy Driver Installer, you can basically cover everything you need with only a few clicks. - Source: Reddit / about 19 hours ago
I have seen a few posts regarding LAN issues with the X670e-e, it's completely gone on some (no device listed at all in device manager), and some have connection issues. Do you see the LAN (or unknown) device in the win device manager? Snappy Driver Installer claims to work on Windows 2000, I wonder if it'd actually be able to find the required drivers. Link here. - Source: Reddit / about 1 month ago
One thing you can try if you feel adventurous, is to try SDI at https://sdi-tool.org/ Download the Lite edition, extract and launch the x64 exe, and when prompted to download driver packs, choose indexes only. Once done, see if it finds your LAN device (or any other device not installed). If so, you can select it and click Install. Good luck! - Source: Reddit / about 1 month ago

Also, if you're running out of ideas you can try SDI. It basically looks at your hardware ID's and grabs the newest drivers it can find. I've had it fix some weird issues, I've also had it cause a couple of weird issues. - Source: Reddit / 3 months ago

I never like using Windows Update for drivers, use the manufacturer's website and/or Snappy Driver Installer here. Once you install the latest driver using such a method, WU might try installing the older one. You will need to hide it using wushowhide here. - Source: Reddit / 4 months ago
Like saying "Dodge truck," you'll need the exact model number (e.g. Optiplex 790, Optiplex 7010, that sort of thing) to find drivers for your model. You'll find those on Dell's website, or by using something like Snappy Driver Installer. - Source: Reddit / 4 months ago

I guess a first step is going to be to update all your drivers and fetch the one you are missing. Since Windows doesn't do it on its own, you will unfortunately you will have to use a third party program for it . https://sdi-tool.org/. - Source: Reddit / 6 months ago
Snappy driver installer is the only way I have found to reliably find drivers for HP laptops more than 2 years old. I keep it on an old SSD in an external enclosure to update images and laptops as needed. https://sdi-tool.org/. - Source: Reddit / 8 months ago
