Quoll Writer is free and might fit the bill! I know it does the link thing. Source: 11 months ago
Does Scrivener have any real benefit over free software like Quoll Writer or yWriter? I've used yWriter in the past. I'm using Quoll Writer for my current project and it does everything I need it to do. Source: 11 months ago
My go-to suggestions for free are Quoll Writer or Smart Edit Writer for things with a lot of the functionality of Scrivener, without the clutter or price tag, or Wavemaker if you want heavier planning tools (plot cards, time line, database etc). Source: 12 months ago
Practically any text editor will do :) Word or its free/open-source equivalents. You can also have a look at this post that I made a while ago. Some other examples of free writing software (with outlining/notes and such) include Quoll Writer, yWriter or SmartEdit Writer. Source: about 1 year ago
I write and liked Scrivener but it felt a little too bloated. I just want a word processor that does that, but simplified. I use Quoll Writer and they just introduced night mode. Best of all, it's free! Source: about 1 year ago
If you really don't want to go down that way, I'd second LibreOffice. You could also try things more purpose built for novel writing like Quoll Writer and yWriter. Source: over 1 year ago
Maybe Quoll Writer https://quollwriter.com/ , or Wavemaker Cards https://wavemaker.cards/ (if you're happy with Google Drive backup). Source: over 1 year ago
- gingko for planning stores and Quoll writer to work them out in the final draft. Source: almost 2 years ago
Https://quollwriter.com/ Quoll writer is the free answer to Scrivener. The stable version is windows only but when version 3 is fully released it'll be available on Windows, MacOS, and Linux. It uses a proprietary file format but it'll let you organize and make categories for all your writing/worldbuilding needs. Because it's not a website, there's less risk involved with unwanted access. If you are talking about fiction writing I recommend Quoll Writer. It is free and lets you organize your characters, locations, objects and more. Source: almost 2 years ago
Use quoll writer instead. Word gets bogged down after a while, quoll handles writing stories better. Source: about 2 years ago
I use QuollWriter, which is also meant for people writing novels, for the same reasons. I went with QuollWriter because it is free and open source. Source: over 2 years ago
