  • How I stay (more) focused with ADHD
When I suddenly fall into a flow state (rarely but happens) I don’t want to be distracted by new messages in Slack or Telegram. To help me with that I use Quitter to close all such apps after a certain time. - Source: dev.to / about 2 months ago
  • Anyone knows an app that would auto-quit apps I want?
Https://marco.org/apps Quitter for Mac. It’s free and quits or hides your chosen apps after a specified amount of inactivity. Source: 11 months ago
  • Swift Quit – Automatic App Quitting on Mac
I use Quitter by Marco: https://marco.org/apps I have a few dozen apps set to quit after specific periods of time. This allows me to resume certain apps an hour or more later (VLC, Figma), while others shut down only 10 minutes after I use them (Messages, Calculator). - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • Swift Quit - Automatic App Quitting On Mac (quit apps on clicking the red X button, like on Windows/Linux)
I feel Quitter has more options than this. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Is there an app that can automatically close unwanted applications?
Sounds like Quitter would work, https://marco.org/apps. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Bank tells customers to disable updates and not upgrade to iOS 16

  • This may not be the right sub, but what does this mean, and how do I fix it? 16gb RAM, no way this $2100 NEWA computer is running out of system memory...
I fixed this issue for me by using Quitter which will actually quit Finder after you close it out. It seems Finder uses up a lot of RAM for previews. I have it set to auto close after 2 hours and now all my memory leak issues are gone. Try it out, it's by the dev of Overcast: https://marco.org/apps. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Help me figure out why I'm always out of RAM!!!!!
As it will remain on for weeks at a time, I've downloaded Quitter (https://marco.org/apps) and tell it to kill Safari if it's inactive for 3 hours. Tends to keep it under control. I could probably be more lenient but since Safari restores tabs upon reopening it's never really an issue for me. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Show HN: OnePlus Zenmode Copy for Mac
Interesting concept, might try it! I've used Quitter (https://marco.org/apps) for months to auto-quit my email app & Slack after a time interval. This is a more proactive approach. You'd still have the issue of being able to open multiple browser tabs, and they can be more distracting than apps. But there are already plenty of browser extensions for that; personal fav: the Defaulter in... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Big Sur 11.5: how to auto-quit an app after closing all it's windows?
Quitter: it will quit an app after X minutes of inactivity. Uses a whitelist system which is great. Unlike RedQuits though, it lacks the setting to do that only if no windows are opened. Sent a tweet to the dev about it, he seems quite active so there's hope. Source: over 2 years ago
