Look into Microsoft's Azure PlayFab for something like this. There's a plugin for Unreal, though all of PlayFab's documentation seems to be for C# for Unity. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago

  • Browser client infinite spinning icon?
This got me thinking so I went looking and from what I can tell it doesn't connect to Steam, but it does attempt to call an API from playfab.com which from a quick google search is a Microsoft game client API. I tried going to playfab.com but that's blocked on my work internet, so likely Melvor can't launch the client without that API call completing successfully. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
  • Cloud Save/Back-end solutions for Oculus dev
PlayFab - Went the furthest Playfab. It's unclear if players can use anonymous login persistently or need to authorize after the first login, and how authentication would work with Oculus' authentication service. They also don't offer subscriptions so we'd need a different solution provider. Costs seem ok. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
  • Maybe they didn’t want to release SWAT (Tactical Slayer) because of the known de-sync issues? My god it’s almost unplayable.
Lol what they use isn't cheap at all. They use PlayFab which is used by a lot of different games like Rainbox Six Siege. Pretty sure they didn't pay much at all since its owned by Microsoft. It is the first time they've used this so there are definitely some kinks to work out. Check it out here: https://playfab.com/. It is some pretty cool technology if you're into something like that. - Source: Reddit / over 1 year ago

I looked around for the different back-end providers with Unity pluggins and decided to use https://playfab.com/ which comes in handy with a very large free usage for testing + 750 hours of virtual machine per month totally free. I found only 1 training on Udemy (In french) https://www.udemy.com/course/developper-des-jeux-connectes-au-cloud-avec-unity-playfab/ and for the rest I had to rely on documentation, lol. - Source: Reddit / over 1 year ago

  • Tell HN: Maybe you don't need a CMS
    > I highly recommend this approach if you're developing something like a video game and you need a quick and dirty backend for prototyping. No CMS that I know of (and certainly not Strapi) is designed for prototyping video games... There are purpose-built solutions for that[1]. Strapi and its competitors are for people building static sites and very simple CRUD applications. There are now also mature... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
