I have a B660M D4 motherboard (ASUS TUF GAMING B660M-PLUS WIFI D4). I wanna buy a second-hand GTX 1070 graphic card (ZOTAC GEFORCE GTX 1070 AMP EXTREME). This graphic card is 8GB GDDR5. However, I see that my motherboard supports DDR4. Therefore, I thought this card is not compatible with my motherboard. However, when I try to a build pc with these items on pcbuilder.net, it says 1070 DDR5 is compatible. I don't... Source: about 1 year ago

Honestly I'm not one to use websites for compatibility checks I usually manually check to see for example if the motherboard is compatible with the CPU and I research the max limits for the motherboard and ect for the different components. As I said in the comment before I haven't done an awful lot of research on this specific build I haven't been up to date with components for a while but if you'd like to do a... I have started building my first PC, and am having issues with the CPU cooler and radiator. They fit in the case, but they don't line up with the screw holes on the case. I was assured by pcbuilder.net that these were compatible, but I may have been lied to. Am I being an idiot and there's an easy fix, or do I need another cooler? These are the case and cooler:. In terms of making a new build, I would probably use https://pcbuilder.net/ or something similar to guide me in the build to see if parts are compatible. Any other tool recommendations would be appreciated or any other resources I can use to educate myself on the finer details regarding PC building. Source: over 1 year ago

Here is an example of my quandry: I used the site pangoly.com and some others like pcbuilder.net to see if the parts I matched together were compatible. A card I've found liking to is the GIGABYTE Gaming OC GeForce RTX 3070 8GB GDDR6 PCI Express 4.0 ATX Video Card GV-N3070GAMING OC-8GD (rev. 2.0) (LHR). The sites seem to say its compatible with both. But when I went to purchase on Newegg, a user review said that... Source: almost 2 years ago

Best I can say is do some research on pre-built and see what you can find. Doing it yourself isn't as economical as it used to be so just getting something ready to go might be beneficial. However, if you do it yourself you can also spread the purchases out over time. Buy it piece by piece and get better quality. Newegg.com used to be a great place for parts. It feels like its gone downhill and the company has had... Source: almost 2 years ago
