Flashfood Check the Flashfoods app for deals on meat and produce. Flashfoods shows stores where food is near end date/ end of line/ reduced prices. You purchase directly via the app and then pick up the items purchased at the store. Olio Operating similarly to Facebook Marketplace, helps by letting users post photos of any leftover food they have, along with a description... Source: 6 months ago
  • Food donations
Try this https://olioex.com/ And their app. Surplus items are listed on the app and anyone who wants can request them. The priority is food waste prevention, many users are struggling and use it to supplement, but you don't have to be. Why the concern about if someone "needs it"? Would you prefer to carry on throwing it away, and paying for commercial waste disposal? Source: about 1 year ago

Check out the olio app for free food items, to mix things up a bit as well. It's not something to rely on but if you're in London, you'll hopefully have a nearby volunteer picking food up regularly and distributing it via the app. Source: about 1 year ago

  • Those who faced 2008 recession. What financial preparation helped you to ride the storm?
Check out Orio App - https://olioex.com Here households co-ordinate collection of excess food from supermarkets, rebag and redistribute. You go onto the app, find a distributor near you (you can also become one), and message / select for the food you want. You then get a confirmation and you go and collect. Very polite and anonymous, usually bagged and labelled with your name ready for collection. Source: over 1 year ago

techcrunch.com - The brainchild of Clarke, a farmer’s daughter who couldn’t stand seeing food go to waste, OLIO now has over five million users of the app who have shared 25 million portions of food (equivalent to taking 75 million car miles off the road) and three million non-food items, all saved from the garbage dump. Half of all food added to the app is requested within 21 minutes of posting, says the company.
