I did some digging and found out that the most popular neobank, Monzo, in the UK came to the US and it seems incredibly promising! Not 100% on your driving question, but in terms of banking, getting an account with a regular bank means you need proof of identity and also proof of address. This can be a utility bill, but you can't pay a utility bill unless you have a bank account! My suggestion would be to set up a Monzo account. Monzo, seems to have good exchange rates to multiple currencies, but only supports 1 card per account (I asked support). Also, account management sucks as it's app only. Why not look into getting a new, more modern account with a different bank? The challenger banks are doing well for good reason - better features, better customer support, no annoying branches or hours on hold. The main reason for me - MUCH better banking Apps, with instant push notifications of every transaction. The old time banks just can't compete.
