  • SMS Security and Privacy Gaps
Speaking as a grandparent that wrote a chunk of the backend of the first iteration of [-1] I reckon I can handle it. Hell, even great grandmothers can breeze through that stuff [e] [-1] http://magma.maths.usyd.edu.au/magma/ [e] https://research-repository.uwa.edu.au/en/persons/cheryl-praeger. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
  • (Harvard in Numbers) Grade Inflation: What Goes Up Must Come Down
Not if you want peer acceptance and not be dismissed as a mere CS student. It's acceptable to download your brilliance into something such as, say, CAYLEY/MAGMA [1], [2] but, obviously, once you start grinding the organ [3] and using it algorithmically for computation you're just another monkey . . . • Building Flexible, Low-Cost Wireless Access Networks with Magma
When I read the title, I was thinking that this was an application for the computer algebra system Magma: > https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magma_(computer_algebra_system) > http://magma.maths.usyd.edu.au/magma/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • Run block of code into the terminal
I'm using Magma (http://magma.maths.usyd.edu.au/magma/) and I was not able to find an extension that runs the code. Source: almost 2 years ago

C++ and EasyBMP. The math part was calculated with Magma and Mathematica. Source: about 2 years ago
  • E₈ Crystal Rotation
The conjugacy classes of the automorphism group have representatives in O(8). I calculated these using Magma. If the order of the conjugacy class is N, then eigenvalues of those matrices lie on the unit circle and take the form e^(2 π I a/N). If they have a single eigenvalue of e^(2 π i/N), then the corresponding complex eigenvalue has real and imaginary parts which specify the x and y directions in a plane in... Source: about 2 years ago
  • Magma, a project I hope will make provably correct software possible for everyone
I would suggest picking a different name. Magma is a quite well-known computer algebra system, so not only is the name taken, it's owned by a vaguely related project (both are for symbolic computations). Googling "magma rust" also produces many results which are entirely unrelated to your project or the Rust language (the search query itself was a third completion of "magma" for me in the search bar). • Computers in Math Research
A relative of mine used computers in their thesis in the 60s (I still have one of the punch cards floating around somewhere). MatLab has been around since the 70s. As someone who was doing research 20-30 years ago, I definitely had access to/used programming languages (besides C) e.g. PARI/GP (which I used on Unix boxes and can, unbelievably, now use on my phone), GAP (still the best for group theory and, bless...
