  • Ask HN: What is the SaaS stack used in your software development process?
My current company is using Basecamp. I don't like it; it feels very disorganized, with work scattered across many message boards, chats, kanban boards, etc. Instead of Agile, it uses Shape Up (https://basecamp.com/shapeup), which has a "no backlog" philosophy (https://basecamp.com/shapeup/2.1-chapter-07#no-backlogs). In this system, I feel like most customer-originated work simply gets ignored and forgotten =/... - Source: Hacker News / 9 days ago
  • A list of SaaS, PaaS and IaaS offerings that have free tiers of interest to devops and infradev
Linear — Issue tracker with a streamlined interface. Free for unlimited members, up to 10MB file upload size, 250 issues (excluding Archive). - Source: dev.to / 3 months ago
  • Simple Lasts Longer
This is the approach I use in most of my hobby projects. It's simpler, and faster and there are no loading screens. In my kindle-clippings-manager (https://github.com/karlosos/kindle_clippings_webapp) uses its sync engine to store the data in Web Storage. With optimistic updates, it feels like an offline app. You can read more about the sync engine here: - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago

Https://linear.app/ He's the CEO "of" Linear, not a linear CEO :). - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • Leantime: Open-Source Monday.com Alternative
I can recommend Linear[0] No affiliation. Simply, I really like how it works, and its a great interface as well. Really gets out of your way, has solid integrations and a good API for building your own [0]: https://linear.app/. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
  • Some notes on local-first development
We created Linear[1] as local-first product. Back in to 2019 there wasn't much anything available so we created our sync engine. Today we have several thousands companies, from early stage to public companies as paying customers. Our co-founder did talk about sync engine back in 2020 and recently did updated talk about scaling it [3]. The scaling has definitely taken lot of work and optimizing as datasets for... - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
  • Ask HN: What are some well-designed websites?
Aah, that's always a controversial question, on one hand, some universal rules of usability do exist, but on the other hand, everyone's habits, taste and use cases are very different. The most neutral definition of a "well designed" website, without any further context, could be "created in a way that helps users achieve intended goals efficiently, while keeping max number of users happy about its look". Again,... - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
  • Ask HN: What are some well-designed websites?
For me Stripe is the peak for a product/company website: https://stripe.com/ I heard some people admire https://linear.app/ but I don't see the appeal myself Majority of websites often fall into one of two categories: 1. Traditional off the shelf template 2. Look cool but fail when it comes to usability and robustness (those featured on awwwards). - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
  • You don't hate Jira, you hate your manager
For people saying there is no alternative to JIRA. Please checkout Linear https://linear.app/. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago

  • Windframe 2.0: A tool for visually creating and editing any Tailwind CSS websites, templates, and components.
About 2 years ago, I shared the first version of Windframe here, which is a tool for visually building, editing, and customizing any Tailwind CSS website, template, or components. It was well-received, and I received a lot of great feedback. Implementing most of the feedback helped improve the app significantly, and now, after several months of hard work, I am super excited to share the new version of... Source: 10 months ago
  • Deno 1.35: A fast and convenient way to build web servers
I agree with everything you are saying in this thread, but https://linear.app is one of the slowest websites I've ever encountered. Animation fade-ins before you get to the content, and something heavy is happening which causes scrolling to be at most 3fps. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
  • Recent Interest in Design Thinking and Designing Your Life
My latest work is on the tooling side, as this level of feedback and decision making largely overwhelms a lot of the tools the team uses. We use a classic project management tool Jira (but there are better tools like Linear: https://linear.app), which work ok. But it is the volume of notes, discussions and decisions that is a challenge when we are working through designs and strategies at pace as a team. We have... Source: 10 months ago
  • Roast my landing page
Look at https://linear.app/. They worked on the same problem of Jira being a nightmare. But their solution storytelling seems solid. Source: 10 months ago
  • Notion vs JIRA for Product Management / Software Development?
Another option is Linear (https://linear.app/). It's basically a very streamlined JIRA with PM friendly roadmapping and estimation features. Very opinionated tool, with features like Slack integration for reporting weekly progress to the non-technical side of the house. Source: 10 months ago
  • Solo project management app?
I tried working with most of the apps that you are looking for and all of them had something I didn’t like, so I tried Linear and currently I use it for solo projects as well. It is free and has an Electron Mac app and iOS/iPadOS is on the way. Source: 10 months ago
  • Using Excel as an engineer
Use Linear for task tracking. Lots of automations capability but still pretty straightforward interface. Source: 10 months ago
  • Debate Land Beta 0.2 is out!
I've spent my fair share of time in Silicon Valley on some of the coolest startups in the tech scene. So, a lot of our inspiration comes from companies like Stripe (e.g. Their landing page) and Linear (e.g. Their gradient usage). And, the data display architecture you're referencing (down to the layout on shift on screen sizes) is almost a perfect clone of the NBA's. And there's definitely a team there that costs... • Anyone here use Notion for project management but not for task management?
Linear (https://linear.app/) may be worth considering. Source: 11 months ago
  • Ask HN: What's the best “dark mode” themed website and app you have come across?
    Among my favorite apps/websites that support dark mode: - https://around.co/ - https://fig.io/ - https://liveblocks.io/ - https://raycast.com/ - https://volta.net/. - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
