  • Librum: Open-Source e-book platform
I've been rather happy with Librera, although when reading foreign languages, I prefer KOReader for its locally installed dictionary lookups (you have to add them). Note that these are both reader software, first, and not advanced library management packages (as far as I know). The last I checked, Librera also had two versions on the Play store, with the paid pro (or whatever) version sending a few dollars towards... - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • Accessibility barriers with Kindle leave me wanting DRM-free books to read. Can anyone recommend authors who have their work available through something that isn't Kindle? I'm more than willing to pay for books.
On Android, the text-to-speech I find is better with https://librera.mobi/. Source: 11 months ago
  • Maths textbooks/resources suitable for viewing on mobile devices
I use Libera which has everything I need for a reader, to view full-screen is essential bc it makes use of all the space on phone. Source: 12 months ago
  • TTS for Offline, PDF, and Websites

  • Q: get rid of FBReader's Books/[date] folder
Check Librera, it is open source and quite customizable. The F-Droid version has no ads and no trackers. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Why the double column?
As a side note, Librera reader has option to view pages by halves. So you first scroll through the left column, then right. Bookmarks recognize the layout and will send you to proper page. Reading full width of PDF would be a pain on mobile. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Suggest android pdf reader with text selection or build in region translate.
Librera can certainly do this. BUT not all pdf files are created equal. Internally pdf's do not have to have text. They can and sometimes do, but the text can also be poorly implemented. And it is up to the reader to make sense of what the text is trying to do, which leads to problems. If the pdf was born digital it is less of a problem, but they can still arise. • Any simple alternatives to Lingq so my wife can read pdf files on her mobile with a built-in dictionary?
Libera reader can use any external dictionary that you want. I use it with google translate where it can look up single words or whole sentences or paragraphs. Source: over 1 year ago
  • What pdf reader/ dictionary do you guys use?
Librera reader. It allows me to select single words, whole sentences, or whole paragraphs to send to google translate. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Ebook reader with WordRunner equivalent
I've found another one that is more feature rich and is being updated. Https://librera.mobi/ Https://github.com/foobnix/LibreraReader. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • NovelDokusha not displaying novels' thumbnails.
Have you tried Librera Pro? Available on fdroid and play. It's by far my favorite reading app. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Best F-Droid Apps
Good question. I only noticed that if I go to the bookmark list, and tap/hold on one of them, it brings up a small dialog where I can enter more text in its name. I don't know of a way to make it obvious while reading that there is a bookmark at that point, but I'm no expert, and haven't really explored the other e-book readers. The f-droid.org app (and probably web site) refer to https://librera.mobi which might... - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
  • Reading considered disrespectful/rude - using your phone totaly fine
I use Librera. Free and open source, available on F-Droid as well as Google Play. Source: over 2 years ago
