It may be a bit tedious but it is kinda possible to download chapters from FFN as PDFs from the website. The download option in the doc manager goes to a webpage of that chapter that allows highlighting for copy/paste but if you really don't want to copy paste everything you could use the 'Print to PDF' feature in your print options from there (and there's always ways to convert PDF to word files - I keep... - Source: Reddit / 4 months ago

I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro, and it's usually pretty friendly on editing and image extraction. When you have your final PDF, use an online compression tool to compress the file. I like ilovepdf.com - it's free. You can choose from high, medium or low compression. I have found the medium option results in an almost unnoticeable loss of document quality and the resulting compressed file is usually 1/7 to 1/8 the size of the original. The compressed file is a standard PDF that opens normally in Adobe Viewer. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
Ilovepdf.com has some helpful tools for PDF merging and converting, might be worth a shot if the answers from before didn't help. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
Sites like smallpdf.com and ilovepdf.com let you do a certain number of operations free per day without ever giving them a credit card. That usually gets me through small tasks. If you want to do more than that, maybe check out pdftk -- I haven't used it in years but it used to work fine. - Source: Reddit / about 1 year ago
