It may be a bit tedious but it is kinda possible to download chapters from FFN as PDFs from the website. The download option in the doc manager goes to a webpage of that chapter that allows highlighting for copy/paste but if you really don't want to copy paste everything you could use the 'Print to PDF' feature in your print options from there (and there's always ways to convert PDF to word files - I keep... I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro, and it's usually pretty friendly on editing and image extraction. I ended up going with another person's suggestion of ilovepdf.com and that worked great by extracting everything.
