  If Mojang hasn't killed Minecraft yet, they're not going to be able to. Even a game like Hytale that looks incredibly promising, is being made by people with a well-known Minecraft server community, and has the backing of Riot (and thus big boy Tencent) isn't going to release and be the "Minecraft killer" we dream of. • I found evidence that there was some work being done with Hytale in December of 2014.

  Well I wasn't deliberately trying to find this. I just stumbled apon it when looking at the URL's for hytale.com on thewaybackmachine. Also, why would it be mentioned on Hypixel forums? They obviously wouldn't have wanted it's existence to leak before it's announcement in 2018 and if there was any accidental mentions they would have deleted it. Source: almost 2 years ago

• Be careful with the new Hytale's website discovered

  Hytale.dev uses the Let's Encrypt SSL certificate, while official domains use the Cloudflare SSL certificate. If you see hytale.dev's "Subject Alternative Name" (SAN), it shows the hytale.dev and hytale.com domains, but the hytale.com Subject Alternative Name doesn't mention anything about the hytale.dev domain.   They initially planned for it to be playable in 2021, so we could see a beta this year. I'd take it with a grain of salt as they have since stated they don't have any concrete release plan, but just in case, you can sign up for the beta on https://hytale.com/. Source: almost 3 years ago
