  I looked up on magicbricks, housing.com, etc. For rent. Avg cost of rent (a good one) for 3bhk is around 50k and the deposit is around 1.5-2l range.   I agree, this place is definitely more than a little bit scammy. It also depends on area as well I guess. When I was looking for place to stay, I mainly relied on housing.com and the local advertisements on boards. Worked for me.   The last few times I have moved, I have used Facebook groups but I feel now lesser people are on it or its mostly brokers or PG owners.
