  • Ask HN: How to run an old-school mailing list?
Seconding https://groups.io/ I'm in a number of amateur radio and computing groups there, and it works well. Launched on HN over a decade ago and still going strong - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2943131. - Source: Hacker News / 29 days ago
  • Ask HN: How to run an old-school mailing list?
I'm on a list or two that are run through https://groups.io/ and it works well. I also run a few private mailing lists on mailman and am loath to ever apply patches to that machine - it is complicated to set up, but works fine once done. In a greenfield implementation a docker installation might be better https://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/install/docker.html. - Source: Hacker News / 29 days ago
  • Brave and 1Password integration
Following the suggestions of numerous members of several groups.io to which I belong, I made Brave my primary browser. Source: 5 months ago
  • BBC World in Central Ontario, Canada
Here are the current (July 2023) BBC World Service Broadcasts in English, courtesy of the ODXA. I wrote these out by hand from their monthly "World English Survey" by Harold Sellers, which you can get by email or by joining the ODXA at groups.io. I can get most of these in Ontario with a tower, good antenna, and an SDR ore communications receiver. Local time is of course for Ontario. Source: 10 months ago
  • New 2023 PL-880
Join the telegram group or go to groups.io and find out how to get it, you will probably have to wait a while but it's worth it. Source: 11 months ago
  • Learning How to use your treadle or handcrank? Check out this Free Block of the Month
I help run a community on groups.io called Treadleon, which is totally focused on the use, repair, and collection of treadle and handcrank sewing machines. One of the things many of our members use their machines for is quilting, and I've personally found learning to make simple blocks to the more complex has helped a lot in using these wonderful machines (of which I have _many_.). • Are there Peaceful/ frolicking kind of LARPs?
Having written a LARP with some UK friends, where I learned that my American spellings were not appropriate 🤣, I suspect you are in the UK. If you are looking for parlour LARPs and Freeforms in the UK, I'd recommend the annual Consequences LARP conventions as a place to try LARPing out. UK Freeforms has a mailing list on groups.io that you can subscribe to for more information. It's a great group of friendly,... Source: 11 months ago
  • Trouble with yaesu ft-101ex
This is not an easy radio for a new ham since it was a high end radio for operator's in those days that did things way different than today. Not saying you can't do it, just its going to take some work to learn about it. You need to find someone who has the radio and can help with vintage stuff. I do not want to steer you in the wrong direction. Maybe groups.io or qrz.com or eham.net you can find someone who has... Source: 11 months ago
  • My Portable Radio Recommendations 2023.
Another other radio I recommend is the original Malahit from Russia, you can get more information on the telegram group or groups.io. Source: 11 months ago
  • ScoutBook
We use groups.io for email list management. Source: 12 months ago
  • Today's Comments (2023-04-24)
Our radio club has a whatsapp group and uses it extensively. I have refused to join it or install whatsapp as I refuse to get addicted to my mobile phone and instead use their email/web based groups.io chat group. But it does seem whatsapp use is huge everywhere and withdrawing that may make people realise what on earth this government is up to. Source: 12 months ago
  • POL Shadow Register and DNC Questions
If you use the link you used to upload to the shadow register, you should come to a page that has the option to let you edit your response. You can use that to add your language points, or anything else, including DNC info. After you submitted info to the SR, you should have received an email about joining the groups.io. There, you can find links to the SR. Updating the google sheet using the edit function is... Source: about 1 year ago
  • POL Shadow Register and DNC Questions
I posted an update to the discussion page of the groups.io site indicating the bonus amount and which SR entry was mine. It also looks like you can DM the SR mods from links on this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/foreignservice/comments/129zqzf/shadow_register_updates/. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Rulesets
The groups.io for all 3 is very good and active. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Shadow Register Updates!
To see the Shadow Registers (after you have passed the OA), join the groups.io which now requires you to provide the data points for the SR through the above registration form. Yes, the groups.io and SRs are streamlined. Source: about 1 year ago
  • New Unit webhost?
What are you looking for it to do that Scoutbook doesn't? My pack is using groups.io for messaging and spreadsheets for tracking advancements. I'm working to get us set up for advancement tracking in Scoutbook. I'm curious what functionality you've found and liked that wasn't available in Scoutbook. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Is it possible to find work in Atlanta from out-of-state?
Currently part of a bunch of ATL facebooks groups for crew calls as well as the ATL-411 groups.io. I'm not really seeing much work being posted there but then again, like everyone keeps saying, it's slow. Source: about 1 year ago

  • Google Groups has been left to die
    >Yahoo! Groups lasted 19 years. >I co-admin a large group that had to find a new home when it was killed off. We went to a third party (groups.io) that accepts money in exchange for services. Irony / wheel coming full circle, sort of: Follow the links about M&A and founders in the links below. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yahoo!_Groups -> https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/EGroups ->... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago

Https://groups.io is good for mailing lists, yes. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • Google Groups has been left to die
Been a long slow decline, it’s frustrating to watch it degrade. Imagine being an engineer assigned to this unloved thing; or worse, a product manager. Career death. https://groups.io is a good replacement for email lists. It’s mostly a for-pay product. https://www.usenetarchives.com/ is a good search engine for pre-2000 Usenet. Like Google’s old Deja archive which has been nearly unusable via Google Groups for... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
