  • Daily work journal/note-taking app suggestions
It crossed my mind to do a daily Jupyter notebook but I typically don’t need them to be interactive code. The closest solution that I’ve found looks like: GitJournal does anyone have experience with this or other solutions? Source: over 1 year ago
  • How likely is it that the Obsidian mobile app and Obsidian itself to be shut down and discontinued?
See this gem too - https://gitjournal.io/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • ZK access via mobile phone?
If you are working with text files and git, gitjournal works well for me. It defaults to Markdown, but if you just edit in raw mode, you can do anything in the text file. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Blogging from my phone with GitJournal
I've been searching for a while for something that would let me simply publish from my phone. I actually saw GitJournal in the Play store a couple of times, but I assumed it would only use GitHub to back up its own proprietary file format and so be useful. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
  • Best site/programm for creating documents
There are plenty of desktop/mobile apps for working with markdown. (I've been using Notable (desktop) and GitJournal (mobile ) for an Evernote-like experience.) And markdown is often extended with support for internal links like a wiki, attachments, diagramming (see Mermaid), and easy export to other formats like HTML. Source: almost 2 years ago

GitJournal: Mobile first Markdown notes synchronized with Git\ (108 comments). Source: almost 2 years ago
  • FOSS note taking app with sync to local storage as markdown, tiled ui, checklists?
I've been following GitJournal for this, it has a UI a lot like Keep but backed by markdown files. Despite the name you can use it without git, and use external storage, but it doesn't quite work with existing folders yet, it only stores it's working folder externally. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • GitNoter – An open source alternative to Evernote (Self Hosted)
I love how more and more of us are using Git to store our notes, though in this case it's more coupled to GitHub than Git. If there is already a need to self-host this, then why not just hook into git and make this more generic? In fact, why is a Postgres database even needed? Please note that I'm biased. I work on [GitJournal](https://gitjournal.io) which is similar, but only mobile based. - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
  • Show HN: A plain-text file format for todos and check lists
    > A formal spec also doesn't help much for apps to use this format. There is not a huge need for portability between to do apps, and for most users to do items are ephemeral and not something that needs to be archived and revisited. Even if an app adopted this, being tied to a plain text format would likely hinder feature development, including the ability to sync across multiple devices. Beyond that, different to... - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
  • /tap – Powerful and customizable note-taking system
Look into gitjournal if you're storing and editing markdown from git repos: https://gitjournal.io/ It's very nice in my experience. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Student looking for a free sync option.
I've been working on GitJournal as an alternative mobile client for Obsidian. I'm still working on proper graph support and auto-completion, but it integrates with Git and you can follow your links / back-links. Source: over 2 years ago
  • A second brain, for you, forever
If you wish to also edit those files on mobile, GitJournal [0] could be useful for you. I've even added basic org-mode support. [0] https://gitjournal.io. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • Show HN: Stormah, cloud notes stored in your own Git repo
Try https://gitjournal.io/ . It's open source and works very well for me. Don't forget to donate if you like it, the dev is super nice! - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • diary/journal app with date, tags and mobile support
Might also be interesting in: https://gitjournal.io/. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Do you know a good and FOSS diary app?
I've been working on GitJournal for quite a while now. It even has alpha Desktop (Linux + Mac only for now) support as well. I recommend grabbing the latest build from the CI for Desktop. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Emacs org-mode version 9.5, a major release, is out
For anyone interested in using Git + org-mode on their mobile, [GitJournal](https://gitjournal.io) has basic support thanks to [Orgo](https://github.com/amake/orgro). Disclaimer: GitJournal Author. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
  • FOSS Diary/journal ??
I've been working on GitJournal. It was meant as only a journaling app, but has morphed into a mix of journaling and note taking. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Show HN: Obsidian for Mobile – Plain-text knowledge base on the go
While not as feature rich, I found GitJournal[1] to be a good app that supports markdown + git sync. [1]: https://gitjournal.io/. - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
  • Note taking Application for Linux
Recently switched from using Google Keep to GitJournal https://gitjournal.io/ synced to my private notes repo on GitHub. Editing on Linux using VSCode with note structure is quick while on the phone GitJournal app just works yet has some limitations like inability to move ticked tasks down or add new task at the top (notes mode is fine - just a simple editor). Source: almost 3 years ago
  • looking or a self hosted journal for sysadmins
Some use git to keep either for their nots or as a backend. There are apps. The only one that comes to mind is gitjournal ttps://gitjournal.io/ There are a lot of systems that use git as a backend to keep notes and sync across your devices. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Does anyone else use markdown files as their notes and just copying the new files when transferring their notes to another device?
Never used it, but heard only good things about: https://gitjournal.io/. Source: about 3 years ago
